Any one want a manual, 928 project? It’s only been sitting for 20 years, how bad could it be?
Those wheels...
I love the 928, it’s odd in so many ways. It’s design, it’s headlights, it’s front mounted V8(which is only weird because it’s a Porsche). This one need some love but I still think it’s cool. Seller is asking 4200, which I think isn’t bad at all, considering how clean it actually looks, and the fact that it is currently running. With any 80s German car the fuel system overhaul would be the biggest headache and they’d already done it for you.

“went thru the fuel system” sounds to me like they just em ptied out the tank and filled with new gas in Craigslist talk

Possibly, but you’d be extremely lucky If a mechanically injected car ran after just that alone.

“Rebuilt title” probably not a good sign.

I’ll pass this on to Jezza.

Seeing that prices are starting to rise on the 928, I think someone will pay over asking price despite the rebuilt title. TBH, I wouldn't mind if a wacky YouTuber buys it and brings it back to life.

I have this weird attraction to the 928. I’d buy it for like 3500 if it were in my time zone. THOSE WHEELS. THOSE HEADLIGHTS.

My buddy got a free “barn find” 928 a few years ago. He happened to be at a meeting out of town, and ran into a guy from nearby that was selling his house and had to get a car out of his garage. Ended up being the 928. As long as he could get it out of the garage, it was his. It was in remakrably good shape, we did a few minor fixes to it and it was near perfect. He sold it when an inexpensive 911SC popped up for sale. I shoulda bought it!
They have a lot more presence in person. They are a vehicle that I just don’t think photographs well.

Just think 20 years ago most states didn’t have ethanol in their gas. As long as the pump was submerged it was probably fine after running for a bit on fresh gas.

Early, three pedal 928's are en vogue. It’s all there, all original and relatively cheap. I think you could come out alright on this one if you were willing to put in the elbow grease and time to refreshen it. I’d offer $3,500 (like someone said) and see what happens.

I saw an early one like this in a similar color, on the interstate last weekend. Stuck in the mix of bland blob CUVs, the low rounded wedge shape of this becomes really striking. These older ones (the GTS ship set sail long ago) have to appreciate sometime.

I saw a red later model (maybe a late 80's S4) cruising down the main drag through town a few weeks back. I probably watched it come and go for half a mile until I couldn’t see it anymore. You just don’t see these things out in the wild. It was magnificent and must have been a time machine, because for that moment time stood still. Someone mentioned them not photographing well and I tend to agree. In person though? Awesome!

The first 928 I ever saw when I was a kid was a then-new S4. I still remember it vividly. I’ve never understood how they are so polarizing, they are indeed an awesome design.

An interesting observation, and one that I think is dead on.
